Managers are failing, and no one is helping.

We don’t need another person’s opinion about what it means to be a great manager. We need to learn to lead in a way that measurably and predictably delivers more engaged employees and better business results.

Unfortunately, the world has conspired to confuse the average manager. I believe that those of us trying to help managers by putting out books, podcasts, and research, etc., imagine each manager going through an a la carte, buffet-style lunch-line.

“I’ll take a little from that author, some from this podcaster, a bit from this book, and ooo! a helping from that article,” they say as they make their way through the line at a leisurely pace. They take what they need, we think, and then move on.

In reality, it doesn’t feel at all like a leisurely trip through the buffet-style lunch-line. Instead it feels like they are hog-tied in the center of a middle school cafeteria while a multi-thousand person food fight is transpiring. Broccoli bouncing off their heads, mashed potatoes sliding down their cheeks.

Worse, even if it does feel like they are heading through the buffet line, they are likely not picking the broccoli, brussel sprouts, spirulina shakes, and chicken breast they need, but instead are grabbing the french fries, cream puffs, milk shakes, and chicken fried steak that they want. The sum total is that I believe we are all confusing managers, and I can’t believe any managers get better as a result of… well… us.

Let’s change this now. Let’s learn to lead in a way that measurably and predictably drives higher employee engagement and better business results. Said differently, let’s make sure every last person on earth gets to do great work and be totally psyched while doing it.

The secret is in these pages. The secret is the Big 3… a surprisingly simple, coherent leadership approach that measurably and predictably delivers more engaged employees and better business results.
